Alicia Keys – The Element Of Freedom:
55.5/13 = 4.27
she used more instruments than in her previous "as i am" album, which was quite boring (i gave it 3.21). she sang with adequate emotions and power in this album and it was precise. "try sleeping with a broken heart" is probably the best r&b song i have heard in so long. i would say it's as good as, or maybe even better than her previous megahit "no one". and i was also glad that she made a part ii for "empire state of mind". i liked empire state of mind because i liked the melody and how she sang in it, and not much of jay-z's rapping. so a song which has only her powerful singing with the melodious tune is definetely a 5/5 for me. and not to mention, the collaboration with beyonce on "put it in a love song" has that "single ladies" vibe to it. i sure hope she will do very well on billboard with her singles and album because this is hit material.

where did u find the link??
I'm sorry. What "she sang with adequate emotions and power"? Throughout her albums Alicia has only three different types of emotions: Very sad, sad, no feeling.
In Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart, why even try to attempt a crescendo and a touch of sluttiness ("Near me, touch me made me half expect F*** me to be next) when you're trying to show weakness. You end up making your climax sound weak. Not to mention what sort of hair is that? In the entire video, the only smile came from a girl picking up a dog. The entie song is sung like it has a halo around it and there's no firm foundation beneath it.
Empire State of Mind II. Did you also think the song was emotional? This was definitely "no feeling". The only emotion came from the wonderful sound editing. So who should we credit - Alicia or the high tech equipment?
But other than that, I thought the album was better than most people's nowadays. At least her power and high notes were supported most of the time and she gives me goosebumps when she screams. Umm, great job?
@ anon: late reply but nevermind. i found it at rapid4me.com, but now i think it can be found on most flie sharing sites.
@doctor revenge: ya i know her album is about sadness, thats why i said she sang with adequate emotions because she didnt add in excitement or anything. isn't that adequate?
are you retarded? she's trying to show weakness by showing how much she needs her man. and only you would purposely interprete it as some innuendo. the firm foundation of this song, which a person who can't appreciate music or can't think of anything to argue with me about and so anyhow fabricate this half-hearted comment like you won't know, is that she needs her boyfriend. if you're showing weakness, of course there should be as less smiles in the video as possible right? you don't go around saying "i need you" to your favourite girl while smiling like a drunk slut right?
for empire state of mind ii, i didn't say she sang emotionally. from the start i say adequate emotions. for this song should be near emotionless, and she sang nearly without emotions, so isn't that adequate emotions? please see what i write carefully, and consider how i would counter your crap, and post only if you think i cannot counter your crap.
yes, her album's better than most r&b albums nowadays. however, not even mariah's dog whistling gave me goosebumps, so alicia's screaming wouldn't affect me either. only vitas high notes would creep me because it sounds extremely gay.
so fuck you doctor revenge, and think twice before commenting on my posts.
Obviously, if you're weak, you go for a lower chorus instead of screaming all the way up and staying there. Keep to an octave la.
Moreover, why would it be almost emotionless when she's trying to sleep with a broken heart. If you have a broken heart, you either lie in bed and sob quietly or scream at the top of your voice and then die down. Alicia is going up towards the end. Does that make sense?
Not to mention if you want your boyfriend go find him and thrash it out la.
when i say weak, i meant mentally weak, not physically weak. so even if you are mentally weak you can still scream. she's screaming because she needs her boyfriend. like when a fire burns down your house and you didn't buy a policy and then you sit outside and scream and cry because you are powerless to do anything.
as for the emotionless part, i told you to read carefully already right? when i said emotionless, i was pointing to empire state of mind ii, as i have already said when i started that paragraph. so please either wash your eyes or stop picking something to say because you have nothing constructive to say.
i don't care if you want to thrash it out with your boyfriend or whatever, your comments are trash.
If you're mentally tired technically it affects your physique as well. If not why when your relatives die and you scream and wail then you collapse.
those relatives also scream for a few minutes then collapse right, not scream one time and drop dead right? so can't alicia keys do that too?
but the point is she didnt drop. how come she still got energy to sing?
drop what?
drop dead?
if she's dead, how does she sing. of course she must be alive to sing right?
