i shall now comment on the comments posted for the hci myths and interesting stories post posted on the students' message board.
if you get tired of reading all these comments, you must look at the last student's comment. scroll to the end of the post and find the words in blue. thats the funniest of all.

Rumors about TKK statue are fake. I was at scool one night and went to the TKK statue. Nothing happen. He was just standing there smiling at me

yes, it's most probably fake, but obviously even if this is true, tan kah kee won't appear every single night or the security guards would probably have made friend with him.

There was a senior told us that there was a technician repairing the clock @ the clock tower and he accidentally dropped down and died... that was the explanation of the blood stains?? at clock tower... Somebody said that our school is connected to NYGH.. common sense told us sure not to be ==''' Under the KKH is LT1?Sure not possible, under KKH is judo and table tennis club and if under backstage, it would be absolutely nothing but staircases. One more fantastic student, fOUR FLAG POLES because it represents HCI( high school) ,JC ,INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AND NANYANG ?it's far so weird because the poles was setted up far more earlier than international school was build up. SEC 4 students have fantastic imaginations and they are actually "seniors" to us. Why don't seem like more sec 4s giving the more "pros" evidence or whatever to us??

the repairman thing might be true, but definetely dont have ghost of him. which crazy idiot say nygh is related to us. lt1 is actually the auditorium. not under kkh or whatever. the 4 flagpoles doesn't represent the subsidaries of hci. it's because 3 flagpoles look like joss sticks, thats why change to 4

1 The clocks never go past midnight. At midnight they just rewind back to 12.01 am.
2 Strange sounds have been reported at the canteen every recess and at lunch time.
3 I heard that you cant step on the school crest at the clock tower because someone jumped off and landed there.
4 One of the rooms in the clock tower is said to be haunted. Go in and never come out again.

1. im sure seiko has invented such a clock especially for our school. if this is true, seiko would have been called sicko instead.
2.the sound must be the students holwing in the classrooms.
3. you can, it's just whether you want to. i stepped several times and i don't see the ghost coming after me.

I heard from my senior that there was a room behind on of the cubical that displays student's art work. It was closed down some time later because a HCI student who was very good in art commited suicide there. Fengshui master said to put displays of art somewhere around there so he will not disturb anyone. This explains the many drawings displayed there.

and i supposed the senior electrocuted himself in the electric room...



1h20 poh wei xuan

1)Uh the auditorium used to be called LT1 but someone died there (don't know how). So a feng shui master was hired and he said the name had to be changed.
2)Someone committed suicide and fell on the school crest within the "globe" at the clocktower. Thus the myth is formed that dont step on the school crest.
3)There is a vanishing room somewhere in Hwa Chong. It opens every 2 years and if you enter it you cannot get out, but be stuck in limbo. Something like a hole in the ground will appear while you are walking
4)The coconuts of one coconut tree in the past sometimes turned into the heads of students who were killed by the Japanese. Then the school chopped it down.
5)The path into our toilets are curved and not straight. It is said that ghosts cannot travel in curved lines.
6)At the Art Block the remains of a dead person was said to be found in one of the structures, and now it is gone.
7)The staircase near the gymnastics room is flooded for dont know what kind of scary reason... and it is said that at night at the staircase the cries of a baby could be heard. And you could see a ghostly figure like a mother of some sort. but if you turn around and look back the mother would vanish yea basically these are the scary ones i have heard so far P.S to 4A32 WONG JING HAO: The underground shelter links to our shooting range actually

1) must be the lights fall on him right... don't lame la. the auditorium was already called the auditorium in the first place.
2) thats not true. i stepped on it tons of times and nothing has happened to me.
3) the room must be the toilet, since there's no toilet in clock tower.
4) and i suppose the saga seeds in our school are the skulls of the red ants the pest exterminators killed in our school?
5) it's to prevent peeping toms.
6) and i suppose they were preserving it in the hope that they could someday wake the remains?
7) it's flooded because of rain, duh. and also, a motherly figure could be seen but vanishes when you turn around. so how could you have seen anything when it disappears when you turn around?

The below stories happened a long time ago...... The Auditorium was formerly LT1. After a boy comitted suicide (some believed he hanged himself) in LT1, the school rebuilt the area and called it the Audtirorium. Similar cases also happened at Kah Kee Hall. The Clock Tower Block is also a haunted place. A group of Secondary 4s was believed to be lost while studying overnight at the Tower Block. The police was called in the search for them but gave up after a few months. It was said that a room behind backstage of Kah Kee Hall is perpetually locked as the room was where the Japanese killed many babies and children. The entrances into the toilets here are windy as it was believed by the Chinese that ghosts and spirits travel in straight lines - the toilets are actually used for escaping from ... ghosts... This ghost story is rather scary but fake: Do you know why the Sciece Lab Windows are tinted? It was said that a person was walking along the science lab corridor in BROAD daylight when he got curious, looked into the window and saw a small bottle with a human egg , he looked into the next one and saw a slightly bigger bottle with an older egg, and this continued appearing through the windows till the last one, when he saw...the bottle opened with a monster (if i'm not wrong). Luckily this was fake... The school field resemble a Chinese cemetery with the crescent shape formed by the road as the cemetery and the flag poles resembling the joss sticks.

why is there a need to rebuild that area. not like it exploded or anything. wow and i believe someone would be so hardworking, studying until midnight, especially in school. and im sure the clock tower is so large that the police takes a few months to search for someone and give up eventually.
how could the japanese have killed babies and children in the room at the backstage of kah kee hall when the kah kee hall was built in 1990? like i said, the toilets are curved to prevent peeping toms. and about the "scary but fake story": no, no, the windows are installed inside the labs, therefore we don't know that the science labs windows are tinted. and i suppose humans could lay eggs? and also, you said a human egg, so why does it hatch into a monster?
now that you have mentioned it, our school does look like a cemetry.

1. LT1 is in the Science Research Centre building. Do any of the Sec Ones remember the 2 days before the camp? The place where we went for the briefings and other stuff is in the LT1 - known plainly as the "Lecture Theatre"...
2. The LTs: LT1 is in Science Research Centre, LT2 is near the printing centre, LT3 is outside the staff room and LT4 is the upper floor of Kah Kee Hall.
3. I don't know why people ask me not to step on the HCI Logo in the Clock Tower ?_? 4. A lot of you describe the "hidden" places as if they are sandwiched between some walls or something... o.o

1. thats called 1t@src, you dumb dumb. that building is built only recently anyway, so how could it be lt1.
2. oh no, no, we don't know. and lt1 is not src, it's the auditorium.

I heard that there is a room near Kah Kee Hall that goes down really far, and in there there is a light that flickers on and off randomly, and that it is haunted. 0.o BUT they are called stories and myths for a reason... lollolllol

thats the road to heaven... and the lights are spoilt and the cleaners haven't changed it. why don't you report to the admin about this.

The seniors said that the clock tower has ghosts in it when NPCC people used to camp inside and sumone died or sumthing....thats why there are red stains next to the school logo at the clock tower

There is a rumour that a pregnant teacher died in one of the science labs. NCC/ NPCC ppl on solo nights report hearing the cries of a baby and a dazzling blue light.Oh, yes, i heard from sb that the toilet outside the staffroom is closed bcoz a teacher saw the mirror covered with blood in there.

i suppose the pregnant teacher died sniffing in too much poisonous gas? and since when is the toilet outside the staffroom closed.

heard that Science block haunted. if you shine a torch in, you will see some things you will not want to see. Similarly, a piece of advice to everyone who might/will do camp in school and will have solo night/night trail, it is strongly NOT ADVISABLE to shine your torch in. Tried before and was shocked for a while before i realised what i saw was a shadow. Kiddy room is scary, no matter the ghost or not,because it is very quiet. Clock tower has nothing wrong seriously, you can ask my friend was solo nighted there. someone suicided at clock tower globe; you can see some reddish stains there and you are advised not to step on/over it too. Kong Chian statue in front of library looks scary when you do "sentry duty" in school during camps tiles of floor in school represent faces in someway or another especially when you are feeling scared during solo night. you can hear sounds in canteen at night too (all these are collated by my friends and me when we do solo night/sentry duty in camps in school) LOL!1H20 knows more about the ghost story than me/ To 1O03: the LT at src is called LT@SRC not LT1, and anyway the SRC is newly constructed.

Yes all these stories are very true. Last time in place of the block B there was a whole lot of wells. Tons of students fell down the wells and so block B is haunted. Savvy? After walking around the sch at 4am in the morning there is pretty much nothin' to fear cause i wasn't assailed by zombies, chased by ghosts or nobbled by skeletons. A load of ridiculous nonsense people can think up.

FACTS: 1. Hwa chong has one of the biggest campus among all the secondary schools in south-east asia. FYI, its 79 acres (320000m^2).
2. Hwa chong have consistently been ranked in the top 4 under the official rankings by the Ministry of Education. Not quite sure about this.
3. First school to initiate the Integrated Programme.
4. Hwa chong have only lost (track & field) less than 10 times within its 86 year history
5. The famous Mr Brown and Sharon Au graduated from Hwa Chong Junior College
6. The Chinese High School is featured in both wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chinese_High_School) and even in uncyclopedia (http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Hwa_Chong_Institution). Btw, uncyclopedia is a parody of wikipedia.
7. For those who don't know, hci's website used to be http://www.tchs.edu.sg/, not http://www.chs.edu.sg/. Not sure why they removed the "The" from "The Chinese High School". May not be correct, but that's what my cousin told me, who was an old boy from hwa chong. Should be right bah. xD
8. There was a year or two (around year 2000-2002) when we had FIVE consortiums: Aphelion, ProEd, Radix, Quest and iSpark. Radix and Quest then merged into...yea you guessed it, Ortus.

I heard before that the entire HCI is actually specially built to pay respects to Mr Tan Kah Kee. If you look closely from the centre of the track field towards the clock tower, you would see the four flagpoles which appear to resemble joss sticks. The way the entire institution curves in like a bowl towards us is also almost like the wall on a chinese grave. Finally, there you have the TKK statue in the centre of this entire thing, similarly like a picture on a grave. Pretty creepy, huh? By the way, the Scouts Den is definitely not haunted. Being in its EP3, I've already been there every week. Yup, no ghosts. =P

are you trying to say that tan kah kee died before 1919, therefore we could build the school to pay respect to him?
the school indeed looks like a cemetry now that it's mentioned.

Fact: Hwa Chong students are naive and believe everything their seniors tell them. Fact: There are people whom are afraid of being close to the "baby room", despite the fact that it's just a room, with walls and what not.

2n04 benjamin cheong

1)Near the EP3 shed, there are 2 flagpoles in front of a tree surrounded by a wall. It was believed that the tree replaced a well after a HCI boy drowned in it. The flagpoles serve as joss sticks.
2) Note: try at your own risk! if you throw an orange at TKK statue, he will catch it, eat it, and return to his original position. BTW the 4 flagpoles at terraces represent HCIS, HCI, HCJC, and NYGH. But Clock Tower looks creepy between the trees early in the morning, like a tomb?

1) wow we have so many wells in our school.
2) do apples work? and obviously the 4 flagpoles does not represent the 4 schools.



2n15 loo shyue tyng

Myth: Everyday, weird things happen in 2O. A deity will go there (a short, stumpy god) and start screaming and shrieking "Give me back la xxx". This apparently is because xxx stole the holy waters of the god from his holy water bottle, and thus the god wants to take it back. In revenge, the people from 2O will hide the deity's belongings and throw them outside their class to ward the deity off, which brings a lot of BAD luck. Fact: The above is amazingly false.

2o07 heng wei xiang

Um in the past there were only 3 flagpoles, then there were wailing sounds or something. So a fengshui master inspected the place and said the Japanese used to kill babies here and the 3 flagpoles look like 3 joss sticks in an urn. So now we have 4 flagpoles.

the wailing sounds must be the civil defence sirens sounded on civil defence day.

On behalf of my friend... LT1 was said to be a black box except with no doors or windows. It was destroyed because people could go in and not go out. Since then, LT1 was never rebuilt. FACT : There are no stories or myths in Hwa Chong, they're called stories and myths for a reason.

why would someone build a place without doors or windows.

There have been screams coming from our class almost everyday after school or during reccess(e.g.Hu took my water bottle, give it back nao!!!).It is said that 50years ago, a famous philosopher visited Singapore and lost his beloved water bottle at spot which is now our class 2o(that explains the screams). Every Friday, our class would mysteriously be messed up,littered with newspaper balls, and the class lights would be off at night,but on during the day,ironic yea? The stories I have heard:

1) I have also heard true stories that a HCI student jumped off the clock tower and died while trying to get a shortcut to the ground floor instead of taking the stairs, as he was racing to the canteen to buy petit brunch(a biscuit).
2) I have heard people telling each other that LT1 is actually the school bus stop.
3) The flag poles at the terraces are the representations of what people call 'SC'(Sacred Cemetery),where dead soldiers from WWI were buried 200metres underground.
4) The horse and TKK statues come alive at night and TKK rides it around the track for PE lessons!?
5) There are baby cries in the library at night and can also be seen being raised up the flag poles like flags.
6) And it is said that Hwachong(high school) has no soccer ep3 for students because ghost students have already taken up the place.
7) When you poke holes through the art displays at the clock tower, it is said that it gives you the ability to interact(see,communicate,smell) with ghosts when you look through it.
8) when anyone walks across the school field to the centre at night,take off his shoes and socks, lie down with his legs facing the clock tower, body parrallel to the flag poles, clock tower and KKH,and close his eyes,if he clears his mind and think of nothing, he will fall asleep(WOW). O_o

this post is not for you to talk about your class, nobody cares.

myths from seniors: not really sure if it's true. Lecture theater One, contrary to popular belief that it's the Auditorium , is actually located under the KKH. It can only be accessbile via the stairs which lead from the backstage of KKH. It has not been opened since eons ago. yup

and why would any person locate the lt1 there? obviously the lt1 cannot be below the kkh because the judo and table tennis rooms are there.

1. Lee Kong Chian statue in the library floats around the school at night
2. "rent a textbook" was not implemented because someone used it merely as a tool for achieving power (i.e. not checking its feasibility befre campaigning with it)
3. there are many extremely old handwriten books in the store room of the library
4. computers in the library are extremely high speed
5. fees for printing in the library rose from 3 cents per page to 4 cents per page
6. Uncle Gopal used to scold us when we step over the fountain outside the Kah Kee Hall or step on the grass patches around the tower block because there are a lot of dead bodies buried under them.
7. school fees in S$300 per month. Class funds are collected very frequently.

Yeah, maybe the clock tower is haunted. One window in my classroom opened by itself several times during lesson time, even though it was tightly locked. Seems like someone wants to attend our extremely stimulating lessons too :D. P.S. 1A15, please try not to flame your secondary 4 seniors just because the remarks we made seem ridiculous (although I admit most of them are, especially the Horlicks one). It's just that these stories are kind of like passed down from level to level every year. We're just telling what we heard, and most of them are actually just pure crapping. By the way, I think you have just confirmed the myth about Hwa Chong students having a bad command over the English language.

aiyo suddenly not a lot of pple start committing suicide in chs ar. the fact is there is onli 1 confirmed death eight years ago and it was not a suicide (erm..as the media wan us to noe?? lol) but accident where the boy fell over the KKH gallery railing 1. large part of sch used to be forest, now become hcis, bs, etc. 2. mani years ago there used to be a ???(bing ma yong, u noe the 1 in qin emperor tomb?) statue along the river leading to the fountain outside high sch admin but dunno why now no more i noe becuz i hav another bro here 8 years ago hu happen to noe the guy hu died too lol 5. erm.. the new admin centre used to be the ep3 block called cheng yi lou or sometink. there was oso a block called hu bao lou which all been demolished but last time 50- 30 years ago used to be teacher's quarters. rumors has it dat a teacher died 'accidentally' and another teacher saw the bloody face of her in the toilet mirror and went mad. 6. SOLO NIGHT experiences. A senior Lin Liye aka ******,Darkness,.... saw japs’ heads floating on the road dis is becuz the ground level was raised but their bodies still at same level. the drama center, library, clock tower, kkh, sci lab are all veri fun at night but the stories all encircle around seeing japanese soldiers. personally i saw a life size life like model of two legs walking out of a tree in front of tkk statue but i oso not sure and may be hallucinating, aniwae i dun noe cuz i walked away instantly after i see it (i dun lik making friends wif spectres). the clock tower has a interesting 1, at 12 midnight according to the clock tower clock, u will hear baby cry at 3rd floor(u noe the small area) after dat u will smell frangipani, if u try to make friends and stay there u will see a jap woman carrying a bloody baby afterwhich u will experience an out of the life and once in a lifetime(obviously) experience which U WOULD'NT WAN TO NOE and i hav 2 words to wish you, good game. the door slamming heard everytime during sentry at drama or sci lab are refreshing sounds to hear, helps to kip u awake but it is true. sometimes sounds can be deceiving lik lizards cries and cats mews but sometimes its better to not think that u r deceived lik when u hear jap. a fellow sec 4 shared wif mi dat he met a friendly jap woman at canteen and decided to help her find her way to clock tower since he was in the jap third language program. the tink was several other different pple saw the woman at different times and places too donning a pretty kimono erm if u feel lik u wan more free to ask our photostating shop lady Zhen Zhen or the pple hu hav been in dis sch for veri long lik security guards or maybe our alumni teachers?

here's a lot of story, I'm sure!
1. Kah Kee Hall has fishes because it is thought to be a "dead" place.. hence fish symbolizes life.
2. The "river" leading away from KKH has its end in a shape of an arrow. Maybe its to draw the ghosts away.
3. It is said that you can hear opera if you stay up at night in the drama centre.
4. You could see shadows/hear shackles dragged across the floor in front of the library at night.
5. The scouts den is said to have an extremely low ceiling because it was use by the Japanese. The toilet is, weirdly, persistently locked.
6. Baby cries are said to be heard at the canteen at night. But its likely to be cats that existed before.
7. The clock tower is said to be haunted. Try hitting a mess tin at the 3rd level at night.
8. The street soccer court near the JC used to be a fountain. Wonder why they demolished it.
9. If I'm not wrong there used to be an old building where the administration block or the SRC was situated. Stories of "things" seen in the toilets in that block are pretty common. Sadly that block has been torn down... but who knows what remains?
10a. It is said that there are 4 flagpoles at the terraces because 2 and 3 looks like joss sticks.
10b. The Clock tower, the Kah Kee Statue and the flagpoles are fully aligned.
11. FACT: Our night security guards are very "gungho" because they actually dare to patrol this huge school which has so many weird stories, and with the fact that Japanese actually used this premise before to carry out certain deeds. Kudos to them.

2) but the water flows towards to kah kee hall, so is it to invite the ghosts in to kkh?
7. you will hear a "ting" sound when you hit the mess tin. thats all.

What happened to LT1? Here is the absolute truth I heard from a senior. On 21 March 1968, he walked past LT1 (once located in the middle of the school field). He skipped lunch so he was feeling hungry and wished that he has some food with him. All of a sudden, there was a loud noice. "POOF!", and LT1 became CoCo Crunch!

HAHAHAHAHAHA... so funny... and i suppose the sequel would be: as soon as he ate the koko-krunch down, "POOF!" koko-krunch became lt1, and that student died happily ever after.
